5 Healthy Habits You Need To Start In 2021

What better time to start a new healthy habit than the new year? Well technically you can start a habit whenever, but I do love lining up my healthy habits with my goals! So today’s blog post will be 5 healthy habits you should start in 2021 to live your best life.

1. Speak it into existance

I know manifestation has been the hot topic of 2020 (and for good reason) but hear me out! I recently started speaking out my goals into existence towards the end of 2020 and it’s a game-changer. I’m not saying you’re going to get everything you want right away but it is SO motivating. I find myself more determined to reach my goals and also living a more positive life.

So this is what I like to do: I look at myself in the mirror and state everything I’m good at and capable of and then everything I want to accomplish in 2021. I know it sounds silly and it might be a little uncomfortable at first but once you make it a habit to do this every morning (or every week) it feels like second nature. I also like to write down manifestations and what I want my future to look like in my journal but I do recommend speaking it into existence as well.

2. Move your body for at least 30 minutes a day

I seriously can’t stress this enough but adding some sort of workout routine or daily exercise has made all the difference. I know fitness and health usually have a bad vibe when it comes to the new year because we set unrealistic expectations and then get disappointed when we don’t reach them. Instead, try setting small physical and health-related goals for yourself and then work your way up.

I have been into fitness for many years and now I truly love it! I have a set schedule of when I workout and usually I do it 5-6 times a week. You don’t have to do it that often or have any intense routine but it’s good just to go for a walk every day. Especially if you’re a student and have classes online, don’t just stay home and in bed all day. Trust me it’s going to affect your productivity levels and make you feel lazy.

3. Eat healthier and well balanced meals

I know this is a popular new years resolution and some people might think this means no yummy food. But it’s actually quite the opposite. I have a huge sweet tooth but I still try to eat balanced and semi-healthy meals. Usually, 2 our of my 3 meals will be healthy but at night I’ll still eat snacks. I’m a big believer that as long as you try your best to eat well-balanced meals and keep yourself active then you can still eat that cookie or the brownie! Remember, healthy habits don’t have to be painful or involve you taking out everything you love (aka sweets in my case). It’s more about making small changes that will turn into long-term habits and that will overall improve your life!

One of my favorite healthy but sweet breakfast foods to eat is oatmeal and granola bowls. I seriously eat one every morning and they help satisfy my cravings! 4. Start saying no

This is a big one guys, learn to start saying no. I know some of us feel bad or awkward so we just agree to everything, but this is a bad habit that you want to work on dropping in 2021. Only say yes to things you actually want to do and that will fulfill your life! If it doesn’t make you happy or add value to your life then you don’t need it. It might be hard at first but trust me once you start saying no it’ll get easier. This also really helps to put boundaries in place and has added more positivity to my life.

5. Be more grateful

This is a big one for me that I mentioned in a previous blog post but get into the habit of being more grateful. I know after the year we’ve all had in 2020 it’s easy to spiral into self-pity but instead take that year as a learning lesson. 2020 was truly the year that I realized all the good things I had in life. To be grateful doesn’t mean your life is perfect, it just means you can acknowledge and be thankful for the little things in life. I would also recommend writing down things you’re grateful for so you can turn back to it at the end of the year and remind yourself. Practicing gratitude has really helped me live in a healthier and positive mindset.
