Hi friends, chances are if you’re reading this blog post you spend a good portion of your day in front of a screen. Whether that’s watching Netflix on your phone, working from home, or blogging. If you do spend a lot of time in front of a screen like me, you’ve also probably heard of blue light glasses! and that’s what today’s post is all about. What exactly are blue light glasses and my review on the pair I received from Instincts Eyewear! Make sure to read until the end because I also have a coupon code you guys can use.

What are blue light glasses?
First to understand blue light glasses we need to know what exactly blue light is. Simply put its light emitted from computers, phones, and other digital devices. In large quantities, it can be harmful and cause strain to the human eye. So blue light glasses are made to block out those harmful rays! One thing I do want to address is that experts haven’t proven if blue light glasses work to emit all blue light rays. However, there is no harm in wearing them.
I’ve always been intrigued with blue light glasses but never invested in a pair because I was skeptical at first. I had heard mixed reviews about if they actually worked. However, since I am a blogger and influencer I spend 90% of my days in front of a screen. That being said I get headaches quite often, horrible eye strain, and have trouble sleeping. So when the owners of Instincts Eyewear reached out to me to try out their blue light glasses I was more than happy to!
I ended up getting the “Desire” glasses in black (shown above). I have a regular pair of glasses that are bigger and a brown color so this time I wanted a smaller black pair. These glasses fit my face perfectly! I thought they would be too big for my tiny face and nose, however, they fit perfectly! They also have tons of other great styles you can choose from if you want bigger frames. They also retail from $39.58-$55.56 per frame which is pretty decently priced compared to competitors. Keep in mind these frames are not prescription lenses. So, they’re meant to be worn alone or over contacts as extra eye protection.
What I really love about Instincts eyewear is that their frames utilize industry-leading specialized anti-reflective coating. This means that they have the power to filter out 100% of blue light under 410nm, making them much more effective than the cheap pairs you can find on Amazon!
Why would you benefit from blue light glasses?
If you’re someone who suffers from headaches or migraines a lot, there’s a good chance it can be due to harmful blue light that’s being emitted from computer screens. On Instagram, I conducted a poll to see if my followers got more headaches from being in front of their screens. I found that almost every blogger or creator that followed me voted yes. Which makes sense since we spend most of our days in front of a computer screen and some even do it full time as a career!
I went through a period a few months ago where I had headaches every single day and horrible insomnia, it was brutal. Eventually, I went to the eye doctor to get my eyes checked and turns out I did have a lot of eye strain. My doctor even suggested reducing screen time, however, that’s kind of impossible in my situation. Which obviously is hard to do in my position. Ever since then I’d been looking into trying out blue light glasses and now I’m glad I got my hands on these!
My final thoughts on Instinct glasses:
Since I’ve been wearing Instinct glasses I’ve definitely noticed less eye strain. I try to wear them pretty much every day when I’m writing a blog post or editing Instagram photos for hours at a time. The glasses have a slight tint to them, which I thought would bother me in the beginning. However, after a few days, I don’t even notice it anymore! Overall I love the look, price point, and quality of these glasses and I would recommend giving them a try! There’s no harm in trying blue light glasses out, especially for as low as $39.
I also have a discount code for you guys if you’re interested in purchasing a pair of glasses from Instincts. You can use “Zara15” at checkout for 15% off!
